As a way to express myself I have explored the artistry of the front door.
There is nothing like a coat of paint to add a bit of life to a dull area. Paint is a cheap and easy way to make an immediate impact on the home. I decided to paint my door blue, as I was inspired by the Dublin Doors in Ireland. I went for a dramatic effect and am happy with the results. The color I chose was Beacon Blue by Behr paints.
I believe the front door should be welcoming– signaling a cheerful greeting to all who approach. A way to achieve a welcoming hearth is not only with paint color, but also using wreaths and flowers.
The wreaths I make are inexpensive; I reuse the same grapevine wreath and change out the flowers, ribbon, garland, etc. as a new season or holiday approaches. All of the flowers for the wreaths are artificial (living in Pittsburgh makes artificial wreaths the only option) ; I buy all of the materials at Michael’s Craft Store or Pat Catans. (I use reward cards and coupons to save additional money). Below are some samples of the wreaths I have made year round.
I also explored painting the inside of the door and I love the results. It is amazing what a coat of paint can do. (Serenity Blue on the inside of the door by Behr) I just love this color!
